What do we care what another believes religiously or spiritually? Tolerance is the goal, each believes what they need to hold up against fear. An it harm none.

One of the inconsistencies of my personality is that I tend to be intolerant of those people who display intolerance toward the differences of other peoples and other ways than the ones they were brought up in.

I've been having a bit of a problem with some specific mainstream religions lately.
Been wondering if mainstream religions are really needed and whether or not everything should just be called a cult.

The entire purpose of "Non-denomination mega-churches" is so that the star of the show isn't under the jurisdiction of any bishop, nor does he or she have to share any of the loot with said bishop.

What do we care what another believes religiously or spiritually? Tolerance is the goal, each believes what they need to hold up against fear. An it harm none. Some religions teach theirs is the only religion. Sad. Some religions are fear driven. Sad. Some believe it is their mission to convert others to theirs. Sad. Tolerance should be everyone's goal. However, with a mission to convert, tolerance isn't the goal; conversion is. This leaves a distaste in the mouths of headstrong people who refuse to follow the herd. The missionaries dig in under the protection of the herd and the headstrong dig in and often go it alone. Either way, people have dug in and tolerance often becomes one's own righteous. Sad. My personal new thing with religion isn't tolerance; it is acceptance. I now accept the missionaries' goals. I understand them. I hold no distaste for them. I respect them. However, I am true to my heart. I still haven't found my way to an organized religion. I am sampling them. Last Sunday, I went to a Methodist Church. Last year, I was looking into the Jewish religion; its actually in my bloodline. That said, I still consider myself agnostic.

I must be the odd duck. I think "loot" has little value. I fail to see its power. In my working years, the things that loot bought seemed to keep me working in a vicious cycle. Now that I am retired, I am amazed at how little I need to be happy. I wish that I had discovered this long ago. Mega-churches don't fulfill my need of community. A small fellowship of people truly caring for one another is all that is needed.

Religious groups are a lot more polite when they don't hold power.

Tolerance is a good word. Respect is a much better word. It is better to be respected than tolerated.
